26 (who?)
Imagine there's a girl that you've known for a little while.
She's cute, and bubbly, and you genuinely enjoy hearing about her day.
You see her more and more now, and you become friends.
She compliments you and you feel all gooey inside.

That's when you realize you might have feelings for her,
And you don't want to, because you're friends now.
But you can't help it.

When you see her, you just can't stop that dumb grin that plasters your face,
Smiling helplessly and staring at her,
Because each time you catch a glimpse of her,
She's suddenly the most beautiful person you've ever met.

And when she asks for a piggy back ride for the third time that day, you of course oblige,
But you know you're just sinking in quicksand.
And when she sits on your lap or leans her head on your shoulder,
You know you're almost under.

And when she begs you to hold her,
You hug her from behind with your hands clasped over her stomach,
And her hands holding yours.
Right then, you can't help but notice how
Her head fits perfectly into the curve of your neck.
But really, you're sinking.

You savor every second of this closeness,
Because you can't help but wonder if this second will be your last with her like this.
You pray that she can't see the flush of your cheeks,
Feel the rush of your pulse,
Or hear the thud-thud-thuding of your pounding heart.
But you give in to that impossible hope that maybe you could stay like this for just a while longer,
Holding her to your chest,
To your heart.

You trick yourself into believing that you can continue on like this,
All the while drowning in the murky swamp.
Well, you've submerged,
Trapped in the lies you whispered to yourself before you drifted off to sleep.

And now you're stuck.
You knew you should have run,
But you didn't,
And now you're stuck.

You're stuck.
13 to 19-year-olds: putting the angst in teenage angst since who knows when.

In honor of this year's Day of Silence (which will be on Friday, April 19, 2013), here's a poem of lesbian love and despair.

It spontaneously came to me, and it wasn't half bad, so I thought I'd share.

Very nicely done. Lovely side note, this poem work quite well in describing the flush of infatuation/ love at nearly any age. You teens, stop hording all the angst!

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm sorry that you're stuck as well. It's a dreadful feeling :(

On a lighter note, your icon is adorable, and I've been mesmerized watching Lugia lick my computer screen for a few minutes. :meow:
